6
May 2001 version
(a) Edit validations 00703 and 00707 are
now functioning correctly. Note that
these edit validations are case sensitive.
(b) The following edit validations all now
detect inconsistencies between tables in terms of the case used in fields
checked in the edit validations, so they are all case sensitive:
CREG table: 00103, 00105, 00702, 03003
STUD table: 00103, 00703, 00707
QUAL table: 00107
PROF table: 03702
SFTE table: 03703
(c) User is now unable to regenerate the
derived data tables for the prior year's data from the screen for the current
year. This change is made to ensure that
the program operates without errors.
However, the functionality still exists because the user can regenerate
the derived data tables for the prior year by changing the year to the prior
year through the Defaults function, regenerating the derived data table/s for
that year, then switching back to the current year through the Defaults
function.
(d) The STUD summary report screen has
been simplified through the removal of derived elements 537 to 558 from the
list of available elements. If users
wish to generate data for 2nd order CESM categories or the areas of
specialisation, the new functionality "SAPSE tables 2.12/2.13" should
be used.
(e) New functionality is included in
Create reports../..SAPSE reports 2.12/2.13. This functionality enables generation of
tables similar to the old SAPSE tables 2.12 and 2.13.
(f) A new derived element has been added
in the STUD summary report: Element 592 (Headcount indicator for students with
qualification requirements fulfilled).
This fixes an error where the prior version of VALPAC2 gave a slightly
incorrect figure when the "Headcount" plus "Fulfilled"
filters are both checked in the STUD summary report screen. The details for this element are included in
the collection documentation in Section H - Data element dictionary for derived
elements, and in Section O - STUDFINAL table structure.
(g) IMPORTANT NOTE: Because of the changes (e) and (f) above,
after installing the new version of VALPAC2, users must regenerate the derived
STUDFINAL data table for the current year and for the prior year. Only after doing that will the STUD summary
report and the SAPSE 2.12 / 2.13 reports work properly.
(h) The name of the encrypted and zipped
file for the Staff submission has been corrected.
(i) Element
019 (NSFAS status) has been deleted from the list of elements checked in Edit
validation 00706.
(j) Collection documentation Section
N – Installing and using VALPAC2 updated
to explain the functionality for generating the SAPSE type reports.
(k) Collection documentation Section
N – Installing and using VALPAC2; System requirements updated to
reflect need for a laser printer that can print 8 point Arial font.
(l) The OCX files for the VSVIEW
functionality has been updated. This change will not be visible to users.
(m) The File../..Import
flat ASCII file to database table screen now has additional options for
capitalisation of imported data. Data
for these elements may be capitalised during import if the user desires: 007 (Student number), 001 (Qualification
code), 030 (Course code) and 037 (Staff number). The default settings is
for capitalisation of those elements to NOT occur.

March 2001 version
(a) Fixed the problem of the edit
validation 00201 generating spurious errors when E002 (Previous year's
qualification code) was blank.
(b) Fixed the problem of the edit
validation 01501 generating spurious errors when E015 (Postal code) was coded
XXXX, YYYY or ZZZZ.
(c) Fixed this
problem: when creating a new user, if an
alphanumeric password was inserted in lowercase, the programme would
automatically capitalise the password, so when the user logged in, inserting
his/her password in lowercase would generate and "invalid password"
message.
(d) Included collection documentation HTM
files for the derived elements E560 to E591.
