CODING
NOTES: |
If a course is offered at a number of levels, code this
element to the lowest level at which the course may be undertaken. Upon promulgation of the HEQF the existing definitions in
the glossary for the abovementioned course levels may need to be reviewed in
terms of the new qualification types. |

CODING
NOTES: |
If a course is offered at a number of levels, code this
element to the lowest level at which the course may be undertaken. The new course level codes are for HEQSF and HEQSF
aligned qualifications and will be validated against element 092 (NQF level). A code has been created for the research
portion of the Honours degree in order for institutions to apply the correct
credit values for the course completion but these courses are not part of the
research output funding. |

Credit value
for the course in relation to a particular qualification and a particular Collection Year |
CODING
NOTES: |
See Section J for instructions
about how to calculate credt values. The credit value is the value which is applicable to the
credit for a course, in respect of a particular qualification as defined by Element 001 (Qualification code). The value for the one course may differ,
depending on the qualification for which it is being undertaken Where the work in a course extends over a number of years
(as occurs with some courses undertaken in postgraduate research
qualifications) the work for such courses is to be split into components and
reported in separate collection years.
The value reported in Element 036 (Course credit value) is therefore
the credit value relating to the collection year only, not to all years of
the course. Courses which are commenced late in the collection year
may extend into the following collection year. Providing that was an effective
registration in such a course made within the collection year, and the census
date for the course was between 1 January and 31 December of the Collection
Year, the credit value for that part of the work which extends into the
following year is to be included within the value reported for Element 036
(Course credit value). This convention
provides a means of accounting for the credit value for courses undertaken in
"summer schools". Examples of reporting styles: A
course that has a credit value of 1 will be reported as 1.000000 A
course that has a credit value of .25 will be reported as 0.250000 A
course that has a credit value of one-third will be reported as 0.333333 |
