A post doctoral research fellow is a person undertaking
research (usually full time) under the guidance of a research leader or
within a research group following the completion of his or her PhD (or
equivalent research doctorate). He or
she will receive a fellowship (a grant) for the period which SARS will deem
exempt from income tax if certain conditions are met. A post
doctoral research fellow will typically be held for up to three years
and in exceptional cases for up to five years. A post doctoral
research fellow will usually not be permitted or required to undertake other
work during the tenure of the fellowship. |
